Alex: Cyber Security

"When I first heard about SMCC’s Cyber Security program, I thought, “That’s the program for me.” I’m now confident that I’ll have a bright future in a field I’m passionate about. SMCC was the right choice for me with its affordable tuition, residence halls and academic offerings. It’s a big plus being able to earn credits here that will transfer to a university after I graduate. Besides taking Cyber Security classes, I work for the IT Department, meaning I’ll have a degree and real-world work experience when I graduate. I have a very positive outlook toward the future; there’s expected to be 34 percent job growth in the next 10 years in the cyber security field. It’s very exciting to think that with cyber security, I’ll be able to make the money I want and still do something I love." - Alexander Kennedy, Cyber Security

When I first came to SMCC, my plan was to just be here for two years and then leave to go get a bachelor's degree. Originally, I was looking for Information Technology. While I was here for open house, I learned about the Cybersecurity degree and immediately went to Admissions to change my major to Cybersecurity.

Aside from the obvious that SMCC is very beautiful, and that makes it a really good place, it's also the lowest tuition in New England and that was really helpful for me and my family. Now I actually work at SMCC. I was fortunate enough to get hired into the IT department. I still plan on moving on to get a bachelor's degree, but for the time being SMCC is giving me all I need.

SMCC. It's time!
