The field of Human Services and Social Work is one of the most gratifying and rewarding career choices you could possibly make. We teach you how to listen, how to hear, how to understand, and how to empathize with the difficulties that somebody may be facing. You are going to be taking some fascinating classes. Whether you decide you want to go for your MHRTC certificate, which only takes one year. You're going to take five classes each semester full-time, but you will take fascinating classes in terms of crisis intervention. You're going to be taking classes in counseling, in case management, in trauma, and substance abuse. Often folks are looking at a certificate when they may actually be working in the field already. But their employers have said, "We want you to have this specific academic learning experience, go get that certificate." The certificate, as well as the degree, have become the gold standard in this field for entry-level positions. When you complete this degree, you will find that employers are thrilled because not only have you had the training that you need, you've had all these courses in exactly what they're looking for. But you've already had experience in the field and recommendations to go along with it. I can't tell you how many students I've heard back from that say, "These were some of my most wonderful experiences in college ever!"
