Lulu: Automotive Technology

Whether you’re looking to build the educational foundation for a new job or for a career change, it’s time to get started at SMCC. Our nationally accredited automotive technology program offers multiple certificate and degree tracks so that you can find the fit that’s just right for you. Learn from our talented faculty who have vast technical experience and are connected to business partners who are looking for employees to build their workforce.

When I deployed in 2013, I went to Afghanistan. I got to work on big diesel trucks and it was a lot of fun. When I got out of the Marine Corps, I was like, "Alright, well, what do I do now?" I heard that SMCC had an Automotive Program. When I came to SMCC, everyone was very excited that I wanted to be a mechanic in the first place. So it solidified my decision.

One of my advisors pushed me to intern at the Scarborough Public Works and then after that, I got the full-time position. So it goes to show that they really do care where you're going to work after you graduate. We get a lot of benefits, 401k, health, dental... The men that I work with are hilarious. It's just such a great place to work.

I really enjoy what I do, and I wouldn't be there if it had not been for Southern Maine Community College. I'm very proud to be the first woman mechanic to work at Scarborough Public Works. It's been a great ride so far.

SMCC. It's time!
