SMCC offers a really good IT program that gives you hands-on experience in, you know, a wide range of IT topics. So as a student, you will have the ability to learn in a simulation with the network environments. And, currently, I just enrolled and began taking courses in the Cisco Routing and Switching class which is quite beneficial because I'm actually getting to work with the physical hardware and see how it works in the real world. Another thing that SMCC offers is the Work-Study program which gives students the ability to work on the IT Help Desk at the college. At the end of my first semester, one of my professors encouraged me to apply for an open work-study position at the Help Desk. And it was the perfect opportunity for me because I was able to put my introductory knowledge of IT, which I had gathered in my first semester into practice. The Cybersecurity Educational Center or CSEC, as we call it, is the location on campus where all the IT and computer science classes take place. There are a lot of hardware tools in CSEC that we're able to get hands-on experience with. I think that you can come into the IT program at SMCC with absolutely no prior knowledge and SMCC absolutely has a lot to offer.
