If you want to care for people as they experience health challenges or even save lives, our Health Sciences offerings will help you to go on to a successful career as a nurse, radiographer, cardiovascular technologist, respiratory therapist, nutritionist, medical assistant, surgical technician, or emergency medical technician. At SMCC, we have, we have a Health Science degree. We also have different programs that students can, can choose within the Health Sciences. And in the Respiratory Therapy program, we utilize the Simulation Lab a lot. This is a safe space for students to work out their skills, and practice in a safe environment with the mannequins. We can hook up our high tech devices and actually simulate breathing and taking care of managing a patient. What we do here has helped prepare students for a very demanding workforce. SMCC provides the opportunity for students to be successful immediately after graduation. Maine in particular, is really suffering for health care workers. And we help feed that we help feed that need. So it's not only the school, which was big to me. When I first looked at different programs, I wanted to make sure you get that clinical experience. Students experience from really the earliest onset of the Nursing program. You enter the the class -- within three weeks, you are in a lab and you are practicing skills that you will be applying within the next three weeks. So this is my first semester. I think I'm going into my fourth week right now and I've already been at my placement for a week. Once you get into that second semester, you can finally start going out to the hospitals and actually experiencing things. You can actually see what it's like and that's really where you grow and that's where your knowledge really expands. Our graduates are in need and wanted!
